Turrach, Austria - From April 12 - 16, Patrick travelled to the mountains in Austria to a ski resort in Turrach. Patrick was part of the training team for the COC Academy along with Per Stilling (Norway), Deniz Senelt (Turkey) and Olga Majzoub (Lebanon). The COC Academy is a five day intense program teaching participants how to organize large scale conferences (5,000 people+) and how to lead a Conference Organizing Committee (COC) that may include as many as 50 people. The program was a mixture of know-how transfer, training seminars, group activities, outdoor team building, facilitation and team presentations. The COC Academy attracted people from all over the world, including Germany, Syria, Estonia, Ireland, Netherlands, Hungary, Finland, United States, Spain, Romania, Belgium, Austria and many other countries.

Breaking news: Patrick has just completed the fifth revision to the Jumpstart Your Organization manual for reviving and leading any non-profit organization. (original print was 2002). The new manual, in the same easy-to-read format, now is 50 pages long and has new concepts related to use of technology and smaller Board of Director teams. Breaking News: Patrick Knight has been appointed as the 2011 Training Director for Junior Chamber International - Worldwide Federation of Leaders and Entrepreneurs. Patrick will head the JCI Training Commission, which has four other members from Suriname, Nigeria, India and Belgium. The Training Commission is responsible for certification of international trainers, developing new leadersip courses and conducting leadership courses around the world. In addition, the Commission will organize the Miami JCI Trainer's Academy in September. Istanbul, Turkey - Over the Thanksgiving holiday, Patrick traveled to Istanbul to speak at the Bahcesahir University. Patrick conducted a two hour seminar called: Roar Like a Lion - Commanding the Room as a Speaker. Patrick also met with the local press in Istanbul to discuss his appearance in Turkey and also the need for a Toastmasters or JCI group at the university.

Miami, Florida: On December 12, Patrick conducted the Jumpstart Your Organization seminar for the new board of directors of the Coconut Grove Jr. Chamber of Commerce. The seminar focused on how to identify the target audience and ultimately how to get those people interested in joining the organization.

Book acknowledgements: Patrick has been cited and/or acknowledged in two recent books that have been published internationally. A case study about Patrick was included in the Portuguese book: Networking - Your Professional Survival Guide by Filipe Carrera. In addition, Patrick was mentioned in the acknowledgements of The Leader's Workbook by Norwegian author, Kai Roer.

Osaka, Japan: Patrick traveled to Osaka, Japan, speaking at the JCI World Congress. JCI is a world-wide federation of young leaders and entrepreneurs and this World Congress had nearly 8,000 people in attendance from more than 100 countries around the world. During the conference, Patrick gave a series of four talks during the morning show presentations on a variety of topics from the impact of one person on a community to working in local organizations to global networking to future planning. On the first day, he also spoke about his journey over the last year from tragedy to survival through perserverance. The presentations were streamed live all over the world through the JCI website.

Osaka, Japan: On November 3rd, Patrick presented a 3-hour seminar on networking to make connections. The class was originally set for 30 participants but with such a huge overflow a second group of 30 attendees was allowed into the seminar. Later, on November 6th, Patrick presented the seminar Do You Want to Get Lucky: How to Turn an Idea into Reality. This seminar also had an overflow crowd of more than 140 participants from six different continents.

Westmont, Illinois - On Sunday, November 14, Patrick spoke to a packed sanctuary at Bethel Lutheran Church in Westmont, which is a western suburb of Chicago. Patrick grew up in this church and returned for a homecoming of sorts to talk about Overcoming Tragedy and Moving Forward. Lake Orion, Michigan - Patrick spoke to a large audience in Lake Orion, Michigan (one hour north of Detroit) at the St. Joseph Church. Originally, the talk was supposed to be for the Catholic men's group called Bravehearts, but there was so much interest in the topic and speaker that it was opened up to women, as well. Two days prior to the speech, Patrick gave a radio interview by telephone to help create a buzz for the event. During the hour long talk, Patrick shared his story in detail and discussed ways to move forward on a new journey in life after tragedy.

Breakng News: Patrick was the focus of an article in the Palm Beach Post that was picked up by the Miami Herald, Ft. Lauderdale Sun Sentinnel and many other websites. The article focused on Patrick reclaiming his life post-tragedy and discussed how he has survived on this new journey.
